Keemun also called Qimen is a Hong Cha (Red Tea, in the West, called black tea) and comes from the south of the Anhui province in China. It is produced in Qimen and the tea area extends from the Yellow Mountains to the Yangtze River. It is grown in a mountainous area covered with forests and is characterized by low temperatures, high humidity, and frequent fog.
Keemun tea has a fruity, slightly sweet, and soft taste and a pronounced floral scent and the tea liqueur has a bright red color. Some varieties can be more or less sweet, with a light chocolate note, and can also contain citrus, cinnamon, or ripe fruit notes. The tea is made of the same cultivar as that used for the production of Huangshan Maofeng.
Keemun is often added to English breakfast tea.
Keemun black tea is also perfect to drink cold as ice tea, you can then add extra orange and lemon slices to boost the fruity touch of Keemun tea.
